MM-FI Accrual Auto-Schedule Creation & Management
Manage expense and revenue accruals with automated, MM-FI integrated schedules.
What problem does it solve?
Accrual entries are created by hand; disconnected from contract and PO data, they end up missing or wrong. Revenue/expense matching is contested at every close.
How does the solution work?
The Conforcus accrual solution links MM purchase data with FI to auto-create accrual schedules, manage the distribution plan and post periodic entries inside the system. Manual creation and tracking disappear.
What changes in practice?
The solution works on the link between the MM purchase order and the FI posting. For a purchase that has to be spread over time, the accrual schedule is created automatically by combining order and accounting data, and its distribution plan holds how the amount is allocated across periods. At period end the automated posting batch generates the amounts due for that period as FI documents. Each periodic posting stays linked to its schedule, and the schedule to its source order, so any amount can be traced back to the contract and plan it came from.
For the accounting team, closing work shifts from creating entries one by one to reviewing the postings the batch has generated and the schedules still open. The list of open schedules shows in advance which amounts will be posted in which periods. When terms change, the distribution plan is managed on the schedule itself, with no side spreadsheets. Because schedules are created in line with order and contract data, the risk of missing or incorrect accruals falls. Revenue/expense matching stops being a point of debate at close, and in an audit the schedule, the distribution plan and the accounting document can be shown together.

Frequently asked questions
When is the accrual schedule created automatically, and from which data?
The schedule is created automatically by combining the MM purchase order with FI data, so the user does not open it separately. How the amount is spread across periods is held in the schedule's distribution plan. Which purchases are subject to accrual, and at which step the schedule is created, is defined during implementation to fit the company's process.
How are the remaining periods handled when a contract's term or amount changes?
The distribution plan is managed on the schedule: when terms change the plan is updated, and subsequent periodic postings are generated from the updated plan. Postings already made remain in place as accounting documents, and any correction is made with standard FI postings. How a change should be treated under the company's accounting policy is settled during implementation.
How are the periodic postings made at close, and what is left for the team to do?
Periodic postings are generated in bulk by the automated posting batch, with the amount each schedule's distribution plan assigns to the period becoming an FI document. The team does not create entries by hand; it checks the batch result. The link between a schedule and the documents it produced is preserved, so revenue/expense matching can be explained schedule by schedule in an audit.
