e-Inventory Ledger (e-Envanter)
Produce the period-end inventory ledger and stock count lists from SAP in statutory format, and close count differences with documents.
What problem does it solve?
The inventory ledger requires all stock, fixed asset and receivable/payable items to be listed by quantity and value at period end, with electronic compliance expected alongside the e-Ledger. When count lists live in Excel, the gap between count results and SAP stock value only surfaces at close.
How does the solution work?
The solution produces the inventory ledger in statutory format from SAP stock, fixed asset and account data; generates physical count lists from the system, takes count entries in bulk and posts differences with a movement document. The inventory ledger is prepared and archived in the same period structure as the e-Ledger.
What changes in practice?
Counting stops being the task that blocks the close. Because difference postings rest on documents, inventory amounts are shown without dispute in an audit, and the inventory ledger obligation is met from SAP data as a single source.
Benefits
- The inventory ledger is produced from SAP data, from a single source
- Count differences are posted with documents and can be traced
- The inventory ledger is prepared in the same period structure as the e-Ledger
Where it sits in SAP
Integrated with MM stock valuation, FI-AA fixed asset records and customer and vendor open items; covers producing the inventory ledger, physical count lists and difference postings.
Who it is for: Finance, Cost Accounting, Warehouse and Stock Control teams
Frequently asked questions
Does the inventory ledger cover fixed assets and receivables/payables as well as stock, and which modules supply the data?
Yes. The inventory ledger takes stock items from MM stock valuation, fixed assets from FI-AA asset records, and receivables and payables from customer and vendor open items. Cash, bank and other balance sheet items are added from G/L balances. Having these modules in use and period-end valuations complete is a prerequisite; for companies tracking fixed assets outside SAP, that section is completed from an externally supplied list.
How does the warehouse team's work change during the physical count, and which document closes the count differences?
Count lists are generated from SAP by warehouse, storage location and material group; the warehouse team enters results through a bulk entry screen or by uploading a template, without opening a transaction per material. Entered quantities are compared with system stock and a difference list is produced; after approval, differences are posted with the standard SAP physical inventory document. Every difference is thus traceable on a document, together with the count and approval it came from.
Is the inventory ledger prepared together with the e-Ledger, and how are period structure and archive kept consistent?
The inventory ledger is produced after the period-end close, using the same period definition as the corresponding e-Ledger period. The solution stores the inventory ledger in the same structure as the e-Ledger archive, so that in an audit both ledgers are presented for the same period from the same source data. Stock value is compared with the account balances in the e-Ledger and any difference is reported before generation.
