Quantity-Based Delivery Split
Split deliveries automatically by quantity — boost warehouse and shipping efficiency.
What problem does it solve?
Large orders strain a single delivery; manual splitting is error-prone, slow and produces deliveries that don't fit warehouse/vehicle capacity, choking operations.
How does the solution work?
Conforcus's quantity-based delivery split automatically divides deliveries against defined quantity criteria, producing capacity-aligned, orderly shipment items.
What changes in practice?
The split logic runs at the moment a delivery is created; the same rules apply whether the delivery is created with reference to an order (VL01N) or through collective processing (VL10). The system compares the quantity to be delivered with the defined quantity criteria and divides whatever does not fit them into parts according to the delivery-item splitting rules. Quantities that meet the criteria continue through the normal flow without being split. The resulting parts are orderly shipment items that fit warehouse and vehicle capacity. Because the split is set up to align with the downstream billing flow, split deliveries reach billing within the normal flow.
The shipping planner no longer splits large orders by hand or works out quantities; deliveries arrive already divided into rule-based parts. The workload of manual splitting and the errors that come with it disappear, and warehouse preparation and vehicle planning start from deliveries that already fit capacity. Since the quantity criteria are defined as rules, when warehouse or vehicle capacity changes the updated rule applies to subsequent deliveries automatically. Because warehouse and shipping teams work from the same orderly delivery structure, planning runs in a more orderly way and shipping throughput rises.
Benefits
- Deliveries are split into rule-based, capacity-fit parts automatically
- Manual splitting workload and error rates are eliminated
- Warehouse and vehicle planning is streamlined; shipping throughput rises

Frequently asked questions
What are the splitting rules based on, and what happens when capacity changes?
The rules are defined as quantity criteria: the quantity condition under which a delivery is split, and how the parts are formed, are kept in the delivery-item splitting rules. The criteria are set during setup according to the company's shipping structure, so that the parts fit warehouse and vehicle capacity. When capacity or the shipping pattern changes, the criteria are updated and subsequent deliveries are split by the new rule.
How does it differ from standard delivery creation, and does what the user does change?
The user still creates deliveries with the familiar transactions (VL01N/VL10); the difference is that the quantity-criteria split logic steps in during creation. A quantity that does not fit the criteria is divided into parts by rule automatically, while quantities that meet them are taken into the delivery as they are. The planner therefore no longer needs to split by hand or work out the quantities separately.
How are split deliveries invoiced, and does this create extra work on the billing side?
The split logic is set up to align with the downstream billing flow, so split deliveries enter the standard billing process in the usual way. Whether invoices are issued per delivery or combined is determined by the company's existing billing arrangement. Because the link between delivery and invoice is preserved, which part went into which invoice can be traced in the document flow.
