Running-Balance Trial Balance
Instant balances for any date range — read your trial balance without waiting for period close.
What problem does it solve?
The standard trial balance works by period; seeing a running balance on any mid-period date needs manual calculation. Analysis and audit queries can't be answered fast.
How does the solution work?
The Conforcus running-balance trial balance computes account balances for any date range instantly. It shows opening, movement and running balance in one view, enabling flexible analysis and fast audit response.
What changes in practice?
The report runs on FI general ledger postings. The user selects the date range, the accounts and the company code, and the report calculates the opening balance at the start of the range, the movement within it and the running balance, presenting all three in one view. The range is not tied to period boundaries: a mid-month date, or a range that cuts across two periods, can be selected directly. This makes standard trial-balance reporting usable for questions that fall outside the period-based structure. The calculation is made directly from ledger postings, so no separate data preparation is needed.
The most visible change in daily work is that nobody has to export the trial balance and calculate an interim balance by hand. When an auditor or management asks for the balance on a given date, the accounting team runs the report for that range and answers from a single output based on ledger postings. The same view is used for checks before close, where the way an account balance built up over the range can be followed through its opening balance, movement and running balance. Balances needed for management's interim analyses come from the same report.

Frequently asked questions
How does it differ from the standard trial balance, and can we get a balance for a mid-period date?
The standard trial balance works by period, whereas this report calculates account balances for any selected date range. Opening balance, movement within the range and running balance are shown in one view. No separate manual calculation is needed for a mid-period date.
Which data does the report use, and which selections can it be run with?
The report runs directly on FI general ledger postings, with no separate data preparation. Output is produced by date range, account and company code. Because the figures are calculated from ledger postings, the balances shown are consistent with the accounting records.
How is the report used for audit and management queries?
When a balance is requested for a given date or range, the report is run for the relevant accounts and dates and the output is shared as it is. Opening balance, movement and running balance sit in the same view, so no separate calculation sheet is prepared. Interim questions are therefore answered far more quickly.
