Verified Gross Mass (VGM) Integration
Embed VGM verification into the export flow — never miss a container over SOLAS non-compliance.
What problem does it solve?
Container verified gross mass (VGM) is tracked manually and disconnected from the export process; missing or late VGM creates SOLAS non-compliance and the risk of being denied loading.
How does the solution work?
Conforcus's VGM integration ties verified gross mass into the export and delivery flow, records VGM data on the relevant document and won't progress the shipment until verification is complete.
What changes in practice?
VGM data is held on the delivery (VL01N) within the export flow. The container and weight fields on the document record which container ships with which verified gross mass. The verification check reads these fields: if verification is not complete, the shipment lock is in place and the document does not progress. When verification is complete the lock is lifted. The VGM data is also passed on to the related documents, so the weight shown on export documents and the value on the delivery come from the same source. The shipping team sees a container's VGM status on the delivery itself, not in a separate tracking list.
In operations, a missing or late VGM is noticed while the delivery is still in the SAP flow, not after the container has left, because the lock stops a shipment whose verification is incomplete. Export and logistics teams complete the open point on the document instead of following weight information through manual lists. As each container's VGM data is kept integrated with the related export documents, trade compliance can show the verification required under SOLAS shipment by shipment from the records. The risk of denied loading and delay rests on a control in the system rather than on personal follow-up.
Benefits
- SOLAS-compliant VGM is guaranteed for every container before shipment
- Risk of denied loading and delay from missing/late VGM is eliminated
- VGM data is integrated with export documents — traceable and audit-ready
Where it sits in SAP

Frequently asked questions
Where is VGM data held in SAP, and how does it get into the system?
VGM data is recorded in the container and weight fields on the delivery within the export flow. The verification check reads these fields and does not lift the shipment lock until verification is complete. Which method is used to establish the weight and at which step the data is recorded on the document are settled during setup according to the company's existing weighing and shipping practice.
Can a container be shipped while its VGM verification is incomplete?
No; the shipment is not progressed until verification is complete. The shipment lock keeps the document in the flow until the container and weight data are verified, which makes a missing or late VGM visible before dispatch. When verification is complete the lock is lifted and the delivery continues with its normal steps.
How does VGM information reach the export documents, and what can we show in an audit?
The VGM data on the delivery is passed on to the related documents; export documents take the weight from the same source and it is not typed in separately. Because the data is stored with the document, which container shipped with which verified mass can be traced shipment by shipment. This record is used to show in an audit that the verification required under SOLAS was carried out.
